Our members rocked it at the Play Day in the Park!
We are so thankful to the Urbana Park District for including Community Choices volunteers in the Play Day at the Park with the Urvana!!
We originally planned a Community Choices & Urbana Park District Play Day in the Park for the end of April. We practiced, prepped, and we were ready to go for the event. And then, the weather decided that Sunday was a great day for high winds, hail, and freezing rain. Needless to say, it wasn’t a great day for a Play Day.
Our volunteers were definitely disappointed to hear that the Play Day needed to be cancelled. Everyone understood the need for safety over everything and also insisted that the day get rescheduled!
Urbana Park District was wonderful in working with us to reschedule. They invited us to the Victory Park Play Day in Urbana and welcomed all of the volunteers back into their original roles and activities.
Some of our volunteers had to drop out due to conflicts with the new date, but we also found new volunteers who were thrilled to jump in and help.
Our members had a blast leading games and activities for the kids in the park! We led velcro darts, crafts, giant connect four, and even a matching game featuring sculptures from Meadowbrook Park! Urvana is full of SO MANY cool things, it is fun for everyone!
