- Cooking Fundamentals w/ Parkland’s OT Program – In partnership with Parkland College’s Occupational Therapy Assistant Program, we will be holding a cooking class with a focus on developing basic and fundamental kitchen skills, adaptations, and using various tools as they relate to OT, and will be taught by Parkland OT students in their Life Skills Lab.
- Communication – This class will offer tips and practice opportunities for communicating with friends, coworkers, and online! We will practice how to handle common communication scenarios so that you can chat at work, make friends, and be online with confidence!

New Ways to Connect
- During the fall of 2022 we put out a survey to members to get their feedback on how things are going now, what types of services would be helpful, and what is most important to them from our cooperative. We got lots of great information and are using it to build new tools, develop new supports, and make adjustments so that our services are as useful and meaningful as possible for all our members! Some of the big themes of what you shared include:
-
Social Opportunities – being able to see who is going is something that people have been interested in for a long time. Starting in February we plan to launch a new system for sign-ups and RSVPs that will give members more tools to shape their social experiences.
-
Additional Support for Transportation – this is an issue that comes up across the community when people with I/DD and their families share what services they need. We are working to address this head on. Members should be on the lookout for updates soon!
-
More support to find people with similar Interests – members regularly ask if we can help them find people who share similar or want to do similar things. We are excited to be building new and efficient ways to do this starting this spring!
