Workforce Empowerment
What is the Workforce Empowerment Program?
The Workforce Empowerment Program is an intensive, 12 week course designed to hone your soft skills and give you on-the-job experiences. This program is designed for adults with I/DD to build soft skills critical for successful employment, broaden their workplace experiences, and gain a better sense of real-life job roles and responsibilities.
The program can be broken down into 2 distinct sections:
Soft-Skills Workshop
A 12 week soft skill curriculum taught by CC staff. The curriculum includes: ADA basics, communication, professionalism, getting along with your co-workers/supervisor, time management, and employer expectations.
Community-Based Job Shadow
Opportunities to experience many different types of jobs in our community through first-hand experience, and to learn from the people doing those jobs. We usually work with 2 partner organizations/job sites and program participants will get to shadow different jobs at each.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Over 18 with I/DD and enrolled on the PUNS list
- Comfortable being independent for 30-60 minutes in a community location
- Have transportation to workshop and job-shadowing sites
